In the last 30 days we have lost three gliders to wind storms.
Whether they were properly tied down or not is not sure at this time. However, being a realist,
I suspect they were not tied down in accordance with CAP regulations. CAPR 66-1, which most of
us admittedly don't read a lot, has some pretty good guidance on tie down procedures and requirements
for CAP aircraft.

Please take the time to follow this link for:

Glider Specific Tie Down Information.

The sad part of all this is, since we do not currently have the authority to use appropriated dollars,
there is no money to replace or repair these gliders. With that in mind, it would behoove all of us to
inspect our current tie down situation and make the appropriate changes/repairs as soon as possible.
Thanks in advance for your prompt attention to this matter.
