CAP Pilot Certifications and Ratings

Note: This web shall not be used as a replacement for information contained in CAP regulations. We've simply made an attempt to organize the information contained in those regulations in a manner that is easy for local pilots to use to complete all requirements for CAP pilot certification.

Civil Air Patrol Pilot Certifications (CAPR 60-1)

  Certification Basic Requirements Privileges/Limitations
  CAP Pilot Must be at least 17 years old
Be a private pilot or better and be current (medical, BFR, etc.)
Complete CAPF-5 Requirements (annually)
Operate CAP Aircraft
Required for all other Certifications
 
Cadet Orientation Pilot

Be CAP Pilot at lest 20 years old
200 hours PIC (300 hours PIC for ROTC)
Complete CAPF-5/Cadet requirements

Provide Cadet/ROTC orientation flights.
 
Mission Pilot
 

Be CAP Pilot at least 18 years old
Minimum 200 hours PIC w/50 hours cross-country flying
Qualified mission scanner (101-MS)
Complete requirements listed on CAPF 101T-MP

Fly SAR/DR missions
 
Transport Pilot

Minimum 18 years old
Current CAP Pilot
100 hours PIC, 50 hours cross-country
(Note: Mission pilots with currency are qualified transport pilots)

Transport ES qualified CAP members required for authorized mission
Ferry aircraft required for mission
Transport parts and equipment to mission base or staging area
Fly "High-bird" communications sorties

Aeronautical Ratings (CAPR 35-6)

CAP Pilot

Current CAP Pilot ad defined in certifications above


 
CAP Senior Pilot

Current CAP Pilot as defined in certifications above
CAP-Rated pilot for at least three years
Have minimum 1,000 hours pilot time logged.


 
CAP Command PIlot

Current CAP Pilot as defined in certifications above.
CAP-rated pilot for at lest 5 years
Have minimum 2,000 hours pilot time logged.
