VAWG CYBER CAMP

2018 DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED!


Virginia Wing will host its fourth annual cyber camp during the summer of 2018, the date will be announced.  This camp will challenge all levels of knowledge and skill, from beginner to experts. Topics will vary based on experience including:
  • Networks
  • Operating Systems
  • Workstation Fundamentals
  • Server Configuration
  • Security
  • Forensics
  • Mitigation of Threats
  • Learn to secure your own electronics

Come learn about cyber skills for your personal and professional life. Learn how to start a CyberPatriot team at your squadron even if you have no adults with computer, IT or cyber experience. Seniors and coaches are encouraged to attend to get information about CyberPatriot and National CAP cyber initiatives. 

Seniors and cadets

This could be your chance to get experience in IT, cyber, or in a staff position to develop your leadership skills. Seniors, this could be what you need for your specialty track. It looks good on your CAP resume for both!

If you are interested in serving on staff, please submit this Google Form. Cadet applicants should submit their CAP resume to cpforms@vawg.cap.gov  Then, both cadets and seniors submit all required paperwork in order to properly register for the camp!

TO BE CONSIDERED after selections have been made any vacant staff positions will be open to late staff applicants.  Not all STAFF positions are filled.....  you can still apply ! !

Registration Instructions: 
  1. Before you register on EventBrite, all your paperwork must be submitted and reviewed by staff for completeness. 
  2. Once your paperwork is processed successfully, the staff will email you a password to purchase your ticket ($30) on EventBrite! 
  3. Once your application has been accepted, you will receive an acceptance package including details on location, check-in, equipment needed, directions, and any further instructions
A successful applicant is one who has emailed all completed paperwork into cpforms@vawg.cap.govhas registered online, and has made payment or has made indication of payment by check.

Senior Members: CAPF 160, 161. No CAPF 31 required but let your commander know as a courtesy.

Food and Billeting: 

Lodging will be provided in open-bay barracks, divided by gender and membership category (cadets/seniors). These barracks are equipped with a cot for each member. All participants must bring their own bedding (sheets/blankets or sleeping bag, pillowcase) and towels. A lockable foot locker will be available to store your personal items in. A detailed equipment list will be sent out in your acceptance package.

Food will be provided. Please indicate any dietary restrictions and allergies when you register as well as on your CAPF 160. 


NOTICE:  NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN AFTER TBA.

CADETS WHO APPLY AFTER 1800 on TBA WILL NOT RECEIVE A T-SHIRT.

As with all CAP activities, parent/guardians are responsible for transportation. However, units may send a van to the event. Please check with your local unit for availability. You are encouraged to check with other members of your unit for the possibility of carpooling.

Cadet Required Forms - How to fill them out:

Please be advised all forms can be found in a fillable format at; https://www.capmembers.com/forms_publications__regulations/forms/

You are encouraged to fill out the forms and then save them to your computer. This way you always have the forms filled out and ready to be printed for signatures. Any time you have a change in information (i.e. name and dates of activity on the CAPF-31) you can go, fill in the changes and print it off.

All forms requiring signatures will need to be scanned in or photographed to email back into cpforms@vawg.cap.gov  

Should you not have access to a scanner or computer, please contact your local unit for assistance. 

These forms allow us to avoid any unnecessary delays in getting you medical attention should you need it.

CAPF-31:

1. CADET MUST "wet"  sign (actual signature in ink) on the front (bottom) of the form.

2. PARENT/GUARDIAN MUST "wet" sign (actual signature in ink) on the back of the form. Only one signature is necessary, but both parents may sign.

3. A WITNESS MUST "wet" sign (actual signature in ink) for each parent/guardian signature on the back of the form. One witness may sign for more than one parent/guardian signature.

4. SQUADRON COMMANDERS (or their Designees) MUST sign on the back of the form. This signature may be "wet" or may be electronic. This is the only signature that we may accept electronically. For the electronic signature, the Squadron Commander (or his/her designee) may send an email directly to cpforms@vawg.cap.gov  (PLEASE NOTE THIS IS AN EMAIL CHANGE FROM PREVIOUS SCHOOLS).

CAPF-160:

1. ALL FIELDS on this form MUST be filled in with either information or "NONE". If a field is left blank, the form will be returned to you to be revised and your registration will not be considered "complete" until the form is returned and deemed "complete".

2. Please note the fields are as follows:

NAME, GRADE, CAPID, CHARTER NUMBER, DATE OF BIRTH, HEIGHT, WEIGHT, HAIR COLOR, EYE COLOR, GENDER, ALLERGIES, DO YOU NOW HAVE OR HAVE YOU EVER HAD ANY OF THE FOLLOWING, DIETARY RESTRICTIONS OR LIMITATION, PAST SURGICAL HISTORY, 5 IMMUNIZATION fields, MEDICAL INFORMATION, and 3 SOCIAL HISTORY fields.

3. Please note that in the "DO YOU NOW HAVE OR HAVE YOU EVER HAD ANY OF THE FOLLOWING" section that you MUST check either YES or NO to every question. Any YES answers require an explanation for each to be made in the REMARKS section on the back of the form.

4. PARENT/GUARDIAN MUST "wet" sign (actual signature in ink) on the back of the form. Only one signature is necessary.

CAPF-161: This form requires only information. No signatures required.

CAPF-163: This form is only required if the cadet is under the age of 18 by 28 JULY 2017. A "wet" (actual signature in ink)PARENT/GUARDIAN signature is required.
